If you are 50 or over, finding love during the pandemic is usually a matter of choosing the right dating sites.
Let’s face it - online dating was made for a pandemic.
The simple idea of reviewing potential dates online, and whittling your choices down based on some basic criteria (age, kids, smoking, hobbies, etc.) can save you a lot of time. Then, conversing before ever meeting in person… yea, that’s tailor-made for the 2020’s.
But some dating sites do it better than others, especially for those 50+.
To give a good example, one big problem many dating sites have is people misrepresenting themselves on their profiles. From using old pictures to not being honest about their height, weight, or age. Not that we’re super picky, but at least look a little like your picture and description. Or as one user put it after meeting a date: “That profile picture was from the 90’s.”
Zoosk has done a fantastic job of overcoming this by including several options that verify user’s information and pictures. They are optional, but they do add a layer of “hey, this is really me”.
So when you are on Zoosk and browsing singles on their super-cool carousel feature, seeing those verifications is very reassuring.
There’s one issue with Zoosk – it’s meant for all ages. For some people 50+, this is fine. But others don’t want winks and messages from younger folks.
How About Those Dating Sites Specifically for People 50+?
Many 50+ men and women are looking for someone more their own age. That’s where two dating sites that specialize in this demographic jump to mind.
They are Elite Singles and Silver Singles. Both specialize in 50+ dating, and while they are both excellent, they are different enough that each has a particular strength.
For Elite Singles, the strengths are numbers and cost. Elite Singles is much bigger, with almost 13 million visits a month (as opposed to about 800,000 for Silver Singles). Elite Singles is also about half the cost of Silver Singles, coming in at about $8 a month for a six-month plan (note, both sites are free to sign up).
Conversely, Silver Singles is costlier, and has fewer users. But they also have an extensive questionnaire, where Elite Singles has the basics. So by virtue of a higher cost and far more involved questionnaire, Silver Singles is thought of as the more “serious” dating site.
Both have their fans – if you are looking to choose from a larger pool of people, and also looking for more dates with different people, Elite Singles is a great value, especially at their price.
Silver Singles shines for people who are more serious about finding a compatible match as opposed to more people to date.
Wrapping Up
All three of these dating sites are excellent for seniors.
Zoosk is great for general dating, and the verification options are pretty nice.
Elite Singles is ideal for mature folks looking to date people closer to their age, and has plenty of users and a solid price.
Silver Singles is perfect for those who want more compatibility in their matches.
You can sign up for all of these for free, so what are you waiting for? Get out there and start dating again, Pandemic or not. Click on each picture to check them out.
